Dr.Umesh Basavaraj Mahabalshetti
Dr. Umesh Basavaraj Mahabalshetti, a distinguished entrepreneur and infrastructure developer, holds a Doctorate in Management Studies and an MBA from the National Institute of Management (NIM), Mumbai, following his degree in Civil Engineering from B.V.V. Sangha, Bagalkot, Karnataka. With over four decades of extensive experience across diverse sectors—including construction, manufacturing, and infrastructure development—Dr. Mahabalshetti has played a pivotal role in shaping large-scale commercial and industrial ventures across South India.
His professional journey spans projects in real estate development, layout formation, group housing, commercial complexes, and land banking, alongside leadership experience in the manufacturing of press tools, dies, electrical transformers, and PVC & HDPE pipes.
At present, Dr. Mahabalshetti leads Sumarga Amenities Pvt Ltd, a company entrusted under the Public–Private Partnership (PPP) model by the National Highway Logistics Management Limited (NHLML)—a 100% subsidiary of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI)—to develop, operate, and manage a comprehensive Wayside Amenities Project at Mallapur Village, near Chitradurga, Karnataka.
Spread over 11 acres along NH-48, this ₹100 crore project is designed to transform highway travel by integrating a food court & retail zone, 3-star hotel, 1,000-capacity convention centre, specialty restaurants, fuel station with EV charging facilities, truck & car parking bays, dormitories for truck drivers, and beautifully landscaped public spaces.
Strategically positioned between Bengaluru and Hubballi, and in close proximity to major industrial and research hubs like DRDO, ISRO, and HAL (Nayakanahatti), the project is set to become a landmark destination when it commences operations in January 2026.
